Day Had Just Begun

This mom-son duo had accomplished a lot of tasks together. But now, all that camaraderie seemed like a thing of the past. During conversations among friends, whenever the topic of teen vs middle-age parent came up, she never thought it would be implacable to her.

It was on a similar rainy day, after a similar argument, that he had walked out of the house for the first time. As a mom in despair, she had frantically called all his friends to find out where he was. But today, she was as cool as cucumber. There was nothing that she could do. Moreover, she had got used to this pattern of his walking away and then coming back after some time.

After a while, when the rain didn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, she felt an urge to step out with an umbrella. Not very far from the house, she saw her son sitting on a bench. That was the exact spot where the two of them used to spend a lot of time together.

Without speaking a word, she went and sat next to him with the umbrella over them. He rested his head on her shoulder like he used to.

It had taken her long to understand that once you lay a strong foundation in a relationship, small differences and fights did not actually matter. It is important to have that faith in each other and in the relationship.

It is sometimes hard to understand if it is the parent who misses the child or the child who misses the parent.

Parents also tend to grow away.

I could really relate to this story! It is so true that the foundation we lay early with our children gets us through the rough times.
