A Mind-Numbing Feeling

There are so many times when we sit down to do some work and we feel lost and distracted. It takes a little pep talk, a glance at the deadlines, or the thought of what we intend to do once we finish this particular work, to get us back on track. Each one of us has our own ways to get through this feeling. But then,  there are times when we feel numb. It happens when there is something from deep within that is troubling us. This is what is I am experiencing right now. A mind-numbing feeling.

We have all lived through the pandemic wave once. The wave started in early 2020, and then went on for what seemed like forever. There was death and destruction that made all of us feel so sad about. But then there was some respite with the onset of vaccines and people figuring out that with masks on, and by maintaining social distancing, we can go about our lives. The panic mode subsided and we all accepted the new normals. People discovered new ways of doing things and found unique ways of keeping themselves occupied. Everyone was busy either talking about their new hobbies or about why they thought they did not need any new hobbies. Either way, everyone was coping with the situation in their own ways.

But this wave, the one that has hit some parts of the world, India especially, is exceedingly brutal. Every day we wake up to more devastating news. Every person that I talk to has lost a family member or a friend to the wretched virus. It’s mind-numbing and extremely saddening. It brings a feeling of utter helplessness. There is nothing more saddening than sitting on the other side of the phone with someone who is in pain and not being able to do anything to help that person get over the pain.

Like they say, it is in the darkest of times that even a small spark of hope can be seen. Praying that our prayers act as that spark of hope during these toughest of times . Praying that we are able to sail through these tough times.

This is the war that our generation has to fight. May all of us know our part in fighting it. May the humanity in each one of us rise above any other differences and help us get through this.

AND WHEN ALL THE WARS ARE OVER, A BUTTERFLY WILL STILL BE BEAUTIFUL.

Right….
We have to get through this pandemic together…each one has to play his or her desired role to make the environment safer…the battle will last long and there will be many situations when the mind may just go blank…numb as you have described….it is the faith in life and humanity that will get one out if it…
Stay blessed 🙏🙏
