Poem

Stunt Performers – All Of Us.

Looking at the image of a stunt performer,
My jaws dropped in awe.
Wondering what made him execute,
Stunts that I would never dare to attempt.

Is there an invisible safety net somewhere?
Are there hidden cables supporting him?
What is it that gave him the assurance?
That he would land back safe

It is practice, said some
Perfecting the craft by doing it over and over again
But anything could go wrong anytime
That is a risk he was willing to take

I, then, looked at myself
Suddenly, I transformed into a stunt performer
All the “safety nets” of life seemed to vanish
My whole life appeared like a performance

Isn’t that the truth of life?
All of us executing our own stunts everyday
Assuming there are safety nets to protect us
Investing in practice sessions to better our crafts

Living each day with the spirit of a stuntman
Braving each difficulty with passion and zeal
Knowing every moment that the act can collapse
Bearing everything and not letting it hurt

Stunt Performers – All of us!

When I say it doesn’t hurt me, that means I can bear it. — Yoshihiro Togashi

That’s a very good point! All of us do live our lives, on some level, as stunt performers without a safety net.
