Here I Come
This blog is part of the Speculative Fiction Prompt hosted by Carol. Thanks to Carol for picking up the baton from Diana who used to host it earlier.
Speculative Fiction: a genre of fiction that encompasses work in which the setting is other than the real world, involving supernatural, futuristic, or other imagined elements.
The image is a black and white image showing a young woman with a septum piercing, wearing a scarf or hood which casts her face into shadow.
I see this image as that futuristic being which will dwell on our earth long after we have all been wiped out. Wait a minute, is it already here and what does it have to say? Let’s find out.
Here I Come.
Do you really believe yours is the only inhabitable place in this universe
Do you really consider yourself as the most evolved species ever
How long can you go on with such arrogance and pretentious ignorance
How long do you think you have in hand with lifetimes so insufficient
All efforts to let you know of my presence were met with such disdain
All signals sent were brushed aside as mere celestial phenomena
I warned you, o’ sapiens , there is no escaping from the reality
I told you, o’ earthlings the end is the only reason it all began
Now, I am here amongst you in every form you can imagine
Now, I am waiting for the right time to make my presence felt
I have been called by forces unknown, to coexist with you for a while
I have been making notes, mainly of things that I should not effectuate
It is too late to ask me who I am and where I come from
It is now the fag end, and, I know, that is why I was called for
Soon, everything will go down the fire of greed and self indulgence
Soon, it will be up to me and my clan to take the reins
You can pat your back for things that you have achieved
You can curse yourself for things left undone
I wish you had picked up the cues
I wish you had read the signs from the entire universe
It is now time to bring closure to this anarchy and disorderliness
It is now time for me to pick up the baton from your hands and live on.
Here I Come..

Give us another chance, please. We can do better. We are improving. Just one more chance.
“Looks like it is too late now, Leonard.
All you can do, is live well until then. “
Oh, I like this one, Deepa! I have often thought that it is incredibly arrogant of humans to assume they are the most intelligent of all beings….who knows what is out there in the universe? And who knows what the future will bring?
I think of it often too Ann. Who knows and will will ever know in this lifetime?
