Mum Again
February Story Series:
Taking care of a baby during the initial months can be a demanding task. Very little sleep at night, making sure the baby is well fed and kept safe from any infection, taking care of the baby’s dietary requirements, regular doctor visits, the list goes on and on.
She was doing this all over again. She was mom to the newest addition to the family, Rayne.
Her older kids were old enough to take care of themselves. Now, she had some time in hand and some choices to make. She wanted to get back to her full time job and also pursue some of her hobbies. She was looking forward to this new beginning when Rayne entered her life quite unexpectedly. The thought of going through the cycle all over again sometimes made her cringe.
Very soon the mom in her took over and did everything to keep Rayne healthy and comfortable.
Rayne looked at her with those beautiful brown eyes, cuddled with her in her bed and slept so peacefully in her lap that she felt ecstatic. The never ending conversations they would have and the unconditional love that she gave in return made all the effort worth it.
She often thought about the day she found Rayne. She was running late for an appointment when her car broke down. It was raining heavily and with great difficulty she pulled over to the shoulder lane. There, in a basket, soaked to her skin, lay this little puppy. She immediately called for rescue and took the baby to a vet. She had the choice to send Rayne to a rescue home. Instead she chose to adopt her and bring her up as her third child.
Having found the puppy on a rainy day , she named her Rayne ( Another way to spell RAIN). Rayne couldn’t have asked for a better home.
