Getting Through Staycation
This year has been like none earlier and it will end like none earlier. I had not even heard of the term Staycation until this year. Mainly because we either went on vacation to far away places or we stayed home. It was a choice we made depending on various factors. But this year, all we have been able to do is Staycation or Holistay.
A staycation ( “stay” and “vacation”), or holistay (“holiday” and “stay”), is a period in which an individual or family stays home and participates in leisure activities only within day trip distance of their home and does not require overnight accommodation.
Here are some suggestions to get through this staycation.
The first aspect to be taken care of for a good staycation is our mind. Once we tell ourselves that this is something that we are doing in order to take care of ourselves and people around us and that this is going to end soon (with vaccines almost here , we can now finally say that) , we should be able to get though this last staycation period. (fingers crossed!)
By having a plan for the entire period of time , we can stop the nagging thought and disappointment that kicks in by the thought of a vacation going wasted. Even lazy days can be put into the plan to avoid a feeling of regret.
Then, there are always books to be read, shows to be watched and movies to be viewed. Here are a list of a few apps, YouTube channels, shows and documentaries that helped me get though this year and will give me company during this last staycation of 2020.
Apps

This is not how I would have liked to end my year. The memories of last winter’s “2000 miles in 9 days” road trip fills me with nostalgia. I fill myself with hope that this will all be gone soon and we will plan road trips and vacations like how we always used to. Until then, stay safe, stay healthy and stay positive.
This will be my last blog post of 2020. I will come back with new posts in 2021.
Wishing All My Readers A Happy Staycation.
