Fitness Goal 2018: Taking Stock.

December is a month of some introspection and some planning for the future. Before we open our new planner and write down (type down) the new goals and resolutions, we have to open our previous year’s file and evaluate our progress vis-a-vis the goals that we had set for ourselves.

It can be a motivating or a demotivating process depending on how much of the resolutions we have kept and how much of it was forgotten.

When I did this exercise, I realized that some of the goals cannot be evaluated based on a single criteria. We have to follow a multiple criteria evaluation strategy. I looked up to know more about it and it turned out to be a simple and interesting strategy to evaluate my goals.

For example, let us consider Fitness Goal. This is something that finds place in all of our spreadsheets. I decided to evaluate it on the following 5 criteria : Weight, Dress size, Endurance level, Flexibility and Enjoying the process. I have used the variable x for the goals set.

*I came across this article which put my weight loss concern (regarding the last 5 pounds) to rest. Hope you find it useful too. Lose the last 5 pounds.

**This is an old article but relevant if you want 4 simple ways to test your endurance level. Test your endurance levels.

** The goal that I kept for myself was very low. I found this link useful for measuring one’s flexibility. Flexibility Tests.

**** Enjoying the process of workout is extremely important. If you are not, then it is time to change the workout pattern. Check out this list to see if you are doing it right:    Do It Right.

Having multiple evaluation criteria helped me in understanding the areas that I did well in and those that I need to work harder on in the next year.

How did you fare in your fitness goals for 2018?

For any of the goals that you set, along with making sure that the goal is SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time bound) , do not forget to have a multiple evaluation criteria for those goals.

Healthy eating and Happy workout will definitely be on the top of my new year resolutions for 2019. How about yours?

I think it’s important to think about these things all year, but I do like new beginnings and new goals.

Those are good goals! For me, I think I’m going to focus more on establishing some healthy priorities, as that’s an area where I’m struggling right now.
