Nature Wise
You were always so beautiful;
Nurturing and nourishing.
Protecting each one of us ;
Irrespective of who we were.
Providing for us in abundance;
So all of us could have our share.
Regenerating from within;
Saving for those who come later.
Always following patterns;
So that we could be prepared.
Everything served a purpose;
Growing and letting grow,
So many came and disappeared
But you loved unconditionally
Never holding back anything,
For you only knew to give.
You replenished everything
Following cycles and seasons
Everyone had enough
Your measure was perfect
Things slowly changed when
You were taken for granted
For all your goodness and protection
You were taken for granted
For all that you provided
You were taken for granted
For all seasons and patterns,
You were taken for granted
For all the gifts you showered
You were taken for granted
Today you scare the life out of me
I feel I don’t know you anymore
Spitting fire in one corner
Unleashing water in another
Uprooting everything around
Not sparing anyone out there
You make your point loud and clear
“You don’t need us; We need you .”
You tell all who take you for granted
“You don’t need us; we need you. ”

Beautiful poem. It reminds me of nature, as well as of people in my life.
That’s true. When something or someone is taken for granted, we see the repercussions. It could be a person, my own health, my own thoughts…the list just goes on and on.
Excellent poem! And yes, what we are seeing now is the result of taking nature and our earth for granted. It’s never a good idea to take anything, or anyone, for granted!
True Ann. ANYTHING or ANYONE.
Very good poem. It resembles the present situation in kerala.
Thank You. Yes flood in kerala, forest fire in some other places..
A very well crafted poem. Thanks for posting it.
I sometimes think America might be the most divorced from nature society in history.
This poem expresses my feelings as well. The earth doesn’t need us and will be here long after we are gone.
