As You Lay There

As you lay there,
Unaware.
Shining,
Under that,
Wrinkled skin ;
I wonder,
What you think;
See or feel.
As your loved ones
Remember,
With tears
In our eyes,
And pain
In our heart;
We miss the person
That you once were..
As you keep drifting
Between
Consciousness
And a trance like state;
We feel helpless
At how little
Actually
Is in our hands.
As we look back
At the life
That you have lead
The battles
That you have won;
Eyes still tear up
But this time
With Pride and honor.
As you lay there
Smiling,
Still blessing
Each of us ;
We feel
Fortunate,
That we are
A part of you.
As you lay there
Beautiful
And radiant
And so full of life;
We don’t want to
Let you go,
But we know
You have other plans.

Beautiful poem. Very touching. Amma was weeping while reading. Congratulations

This was so touching and beautiful! If you are writing about personal experience, you have my sympathies. But honestly, this poem captures the moments of losing a parent so well…..

This really struck home for me. My Grandpa passed away not too long ago and it took me back to that period of wanting him to stay but having to say goodbye. Thanks for sharing this.
