Are We There Yet?
How many times have we asked this question from the backseat of the vehicle? How many times have we heard this question being asked from the backseat of the car? The same question in different languages. The same question in varied tones, pitches and intensities.
When this question was asked to us, we always knew the answer. We would tweak the answer to ensure minimum damage. For example, if we knew that the journey would take 4 more hours, we would say- a nap plus a movie and munch on some snacks ,and we will be there! Or we could play a game or look outside for new sights.
We could manage the situation because we always knew the answer. We knew our destination and the time we would take to reach there.
Under the circumstances that we are in today, the fact that we do not know how long we will take to come out of it, how long before we can reach the safety zone, is one of the most annoying aspects.
What do we say now? How do we answer the question that gets asked from the backseat of the car? How many times have we ourselves wondered, “Are We There Yet!” How many times have we wished we knew the answer.
Whom do we ask? Who do we trust?
We can work from home, study from home, workout from home, shop from home, attend meetings from home, wish each other from home, BUT, are we there yet?
We can socially distance ourselves, interact in social bubbles, attend virtual weddings and parties, BUT, are we there yet?
We can watch movies on streaming platforms, binge watch on TV shows, spend weekends with take-away dinners, BUT, are we there yet?
We can read motivational quotes, inspire each other with positive stories, read about people who have lived through the worst, BUT, are we there yet?
We can dream about travel destinations, flip through old pictures, swear not to miss an opportunity in the future, BUT, are we there yet?
We can take one day at a time, applaud each other on living through so many days of isolation, vow to continue doing it, BUT, are we there yet?
We can count our blessings, bow down in gratitude for what we have, pledge to help those who are not as fortunate, BUT, are we there yet?
Whom do we ask? Who do we trust?
Are We There Yet!

That is exactly what is so hard about this pandemic! We don’t know when it will be over, or even how it will be over (will we figure out an effective treatment, or will we find a vaccine that works?) I think that is why the stress levels are so high. And I’m very familiar with that clip….my grandson loves it!
Yes Ann . With everyone hoping and praying and sending out healing energy let us hope we see some light soon ..
