BLOG TOUR :THE KOOKY KIDS' CLUB – ROBBIE YATES

Welcome to today’s blog tour of The Kooky Kids’ Club. Special thanks to Shalini @ Digital Reads for introducing me to Robbie and his books.
DEEPA DEEPAS THOUGHTSI have read the reviews of Robbie’s previous books on Digital Reads Blog Tour and when Shalini presented an opportunity of a blog tour, I couldn’t resist it.
As I was waiting for the book to arrive, I got this sweet and personal note from Robbie and Shalini. What more can one ask for!
I must say, I am so happy to be writing this post.
Book Blurb:
Maxine is smart, quirky, and a bit of a misfit. One day, she receives a mysterious invitation to a meeting of the “Kooky Kids’ Club.”
Things are looking bright. It’s nice to finally have a real group of friends. Then Maxine’s teacher, Miss Thompson, disappears.
Maxine doesn’t know what happened to her beloved teacher, or how she can help. But if anybody has the smarts to help Miss Thompson, it’s Maxine and the Kooky Kids’ Club…
This quirky chapter book is for the best kind of kids—the ones who are a little bit kooky!
My Review of the book:
All of us have our share of quirkiness hidden within. During childhood some learn to camouflage it to fit the bill. Some courageous ones keep the flag of quirkiness high by sacrificing a ‘normal’ childhood. They are lucky if they find similar friends.  Maxine is one such courageous child who keeps her uniqueness intact and the Kooky Kids’ Club plays a very big role in helping her do that. The author portrays Maxine as a very relatable kid by showing her vulnerability and the efforts she makes to gain some friends among her ‘normal’ classmates.
I especially loved the Kooky Kids’ Club Manual. The wise words written by children (the founders of the Kooky Kids’ Club) to children will definitely connect with each child who reads the book. Those are the words that I, as a mother, would want my kids to read and understand. Those are the words that I, as an adult, wish I had heard during my childhood days. It very bluntly says ” It does get better. But we know it’s hard- nobody’s pretending that it’s not. ” I applaud the author for the way he has written the Kooky Kids’ Club manual.
Be it aunt Izzie or the teacher, Miss Thompson, who always in subtle ways encourages Maxine, the quirk in one always recognizes that in others. Standing up for one another is the least that they can do for each other. To put it in the author’s words, “Until you find your “people,” hang in there. Talk to an adult or a friend if you need to. But hang in there. It will be worth the wait.
To sum up Robbie’s book, I would say, an enjoyable read for kids and parents alike. A book that will tell each child – “It is ok to be different. You will find your clan.
How I Wish, I was part of the Kooky Kids’ Club while growing up.

I’m so glad you loved the book as well, and WELCOME TO THE GROWN UP KOOKY KIDS’ CLUB! I’m actually finding it harder to make friends as an adult than as a kid. As a kid you’re usually thrown into so many situations with other kids, as an adult you really only ever see other adults at work… So, sometimes it’s hard to find anyone to connect with!
Your review was wonderful! Sorry, for my slight tangent. 😅

    Thanks Nicole.
As adults it is hard probably because we are too busy trying to find an exact match for our friend requirements. We probably become more choosy about the type of people we want to hang out with.. That is my personal experience.
