Poem

Flowers On The Fence

The flowers on the fence often make me wonder
Will plucking them off the fence be a blunder

The fragrance so strong, the colors so vibrant
Even the chirpiest of birds just go silent

Do they belong to me or my neighbor
Who, after all, has put in all the labor

I have not seen her as much as I have seen her cats
Who, I know,  do much more than keep away the rats

They tell me their owner and them, are doing just fine
Even though we don’t meet, over wine and dine

Those shared flowers and those cats
Form a bond which otherwise hardly exists.

Putting things in perspective, i am convinced
To keep those flowers on the fence unplucked

For, they spread fragrance, unbiased
For, they give joy, unprejudiced.
